The public are being advised now in many countries to start wearing face covering in some situations like when going for shopping or on public transport. So I’ve made a very simple and easy step-by-step video to show you how to make your own face mask at home even if you are new to sewing.
Before you make and wear your face mask, please note that this is not a medical-grade face mask. But this face mask can be used in case of an emergency or if you have to go out in public during this uncertain time.
Fabric preparation
Before you get started, make sure you prepare the fabric by pre-washing it, this way, the sewn section can’t shrink later. Ironing is also recommended as it will make it easier to cut
Materials and supplies needed
You’ll need
- 100% cutting fabric
- Elastic cord – 5 or 6 mm wide, about one-quarter inch
- Small clips
- A4 paper
- Sewing thread
- Sewing machine
